Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the planet's future and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow's cars. At SSAB, we are proud of our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we are aware that steel production is one of the industries that emits the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world's first fossil-free process for steel production, and by around 2030 we will be virtually fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will be important in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry.

About the position

As an operator at RH, you will be part of the Raw Steel Operations Service Group. RH is one of SSAB Luleå's secondary metallurgical stations where we alloy steel under vacuum conditions. Your tasks include processing steel in the facility to ensure it has the correct composition of alloys and the right temperatures for the next process step, which significantly affects the steel's properties in the end. There is also the opportunity to rotate into other roles within the Operations Service Group. Working hours are mainly scheduled for shifts divided into morning (06:00-14:00) and afternoon (14:00-22:00).

Your main responsibilities

  • Processing steel via RH.
  • Operator maintenance related to RH and the rest of the steel mill
  • Cleaning and repairing pig iron ladles
  • Developing the operations and our processes together with the manager and workgroup
  • Planning to ensure operations run smoothly in the short and long term

About you

  • Concerned about your own and others' safety in everyday life.
  • You have curiosity and drive to learn new things.
  • You are a team player who enjoys working in a team
  • You have good self-awareness, spread positive energy, and lead by example
  • You contribute to improvements and achieve results
  • Education with a mechanical focus or equivalent work experience is an advantage
  • Experience from heavy industry, maintenance systems, and mechanical skills is an advantage
  • If you have a wheel loader, overhead crane, and/or forklift license, this is a plus

Our offer

At SSAB, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We use our values – driving, genuine, and one step ahead – in our daily decision-making, always with the customer in focus. This makes us all team players, with a common goal of improving ourselves. When you start at SSAB, you become part of an organization with passionate problem solvers who work together on important challenges.
